Canadian Rabbi Dr. David Novak gives powerful and empathetic talk against euthanasia
"Nobody really lives unless they're convinced that somebody wants them to live."
Recently, I organized an event with my friend Rabbi Adam Cutler at Adath Israel Congregation in Toronto. Our invited speaker was Rabbi Dr. David Novak who Rabbi Cutler acknowledged is “one of the leading philosophers of Judaism in the world.”
The theme of our event was: "The Value of Life in the Face of Suffering and Death.”
Prof. Novak brought some Jewish thought to bear on our contemporary euthanasia crisis.
With stories, empathy, and deep reflection borne out of his time as a congregational rabbi combined with his deep intellectual life, Prof. Novak gave a wonderful lecture that I can only encourage you to listen to in full.
The following 1-hour link includes his presentation, a brief panel discussion, and the Q&A period.
Watch, share, and let me know what you think!
